Ripoll
Ripoll is a substantial town of approx. 10,000 inhabitants and is a 20 min drive or bus ride from Vallfogona.   The town is home to the famous Benedictine monastery, Santa Maria Ripoll that now operates as a museum.  There are also a number of excellent bars, restaurants and shopping opportunities in Ripoll, to meet the needs of both locals and tourists alike. 

Ripoll's train and bus station provide connections to the majority of other towns, villages and cities in Catalonia.   There is a bus that runs twice daily to Vallfogona to those traveling without a car.

Figueras
Figueras birthplace of Salvador Dali and home of the world famous Dali Museum, Teatre-Museu Gala Salvador Dali, is an hour drive from Vallfogona and can be accessed by bus and train (thru Barcelona) from Ripoll. With a population of approx. 33,000 Figueras also boasts a number of bars, restaurants, attractions and shopping opportunities.

Girona
The Beautiful and ancient city of Girona is also within and hours drive of Vallfogona and is accessible by bus or train (thru Barcelona) from Ripoll. Girona has a population of approx. 95,000 and is home of both Saint Mary's Cathedral and the ancient Jewish center known as The Call.

Costa Brava
There are a number of Mediterranean beaches along the Costa Brava, an hour and forty-five minutes drive from Vallfogona. In addition to the large tourist centers along the coast, there a few tiny picturesque, pebble, beaches such as Cala Mutra. These can be reached by a short hike down the main access road.
